Exclamation Communications, Inc. (ECI) is a design firm where I have worked and collaborated for over 16 years. Previously based in Maryland, and now in North Carolina, ECI provides for-profit and nonprofit organizations power for their brands and the vital tools needed to rise above their competition through branding, print, web, video, signage, and displays. Working for a variety of clients enforces the need for brands to stay diverse in their own creative branding system. Also, as a small business design firm, ECI needs design for its own purposes as well.
Designing for a design firm is a little counterintuitive and is like looking in a mirror. It is actually easier to design for others than to design for your own business especially when your business is design. When designing for ECI branding materials to promote design services and brand system is maintained. A brand system style of fonts, colors, iconography, tone of voice, and hierarchy of content give clarity and consistency to ECI’s audience.
ECI promotes its services through email newsletters, website content, case study and promotional videos, and some social media. Since ECI is focused on small business and more B2B interactions, the design system mirrors this intentional focus. Positioning the design firm for the right client fit is emphasized.
Working with Jeff and Valerie at ECI over the years has been a great partnership of talents. I’ve worked on all the design work on this page and within the videos. Integrity of client service and craft is always maintained and reviews from clients have agreed. With over 25 years of being in business, ECI is not stopping any time soon.
